Schon länger erfreut sich die Software vorpX unter den VR-Fans großer Beliebtheit, denn mit dieser Software ist es möglich, Spiele wie GTA, welche nicht für Virtual Reality entwickelt wurden, mit einem VR-Headset zu spielen. Dabei ist man nicht auf eine Kinoleinwand, wie beim Virtual Desktop oder dem SteamVR Desktop Theater beschränkt, sondern fügt dem Spiel eine echte VR-Ansicht hinzu, mit der auch das Headtracking funktioniert.

VorpX unterstützt aktuell über 150 Titel (darunter Dishonored, Deus Ex Human Revolution, Deus Ex GOTY, Portal 2, Dear Esther, Bioshock, Skyrim, Fallout 4, GTA uvm.) in der genannten VR-Ansicht oder auf Wunsch auch in einem virtuellen Kino. In diesem virtuellen Kino muss man natürlich nicht nur Spiele spielen, man mit Hilfe der Software auch Videos genießen oder mit dem Desktop Viewer das Internet durchforsten. Mit der neusten Version ist es nun auch möglich eigene Profile anzulegen und zu bearbeiten. Zudem können Einstellungen und Nutzerprofile über die Cloud Sharing Funktion geteilt werden.
Mit der neusten Version von vorpX wird das DK1 der Oculus Rift nicht mehr unterstützt. Das DK2 kann aber weiterhin verwendet werden. Eine Unterstützung für die HTC Vive fehlt in vorpX 16.1.1 weiterhin, der Support des VR-Headsets aus dem Hause HTC und Valve ist laut Entwickler aber geplant.
Wenn ihr vorpX bereits besitzt, dann sollte sich eure Software automatisch updaten, solange ihr noch mit der Runtime 0.8 spielt. Wenn das Update nicht durchgeführt wird, dann installiert die Software mit dem Installer neu, den ihr beim Kauf von vorpX erhalten habt. Ihr könnt aber auch versuchen mit dem Runtime Switcher auf die Runtime 0.8 zu wechseln und dann das Update durchführen zu lassen.
